Right now, the students are reading Incident at Hawk's Hill, which I had never heard of. However, I am enjoying it and so are the students! I am so optimistic about this year. I am so thankful for this experience. I will continue blogging about my time in the classroom and I hope all of you will, too! I'd love to read about your experiences!

Student Teaching
I love my school. I am lucky enough to be at Erwine Middle School working with the best mentors I could have ever asked for. My mentor teacher recently applied for a technology grant for the building and the school was given $250,000 to spend on technology! My classroom has an entire cart of brand new net-books to use. I was telling my mentor teacher about our Facebook project and she loved the idea. She wants to get started right away on a similar unit.

I am so glad you love your school! I think you will be able to incorporate some amazing projects and lessons to help students learn with the grant Erwine received. I think the Facebook project would be good for students because social networking continues to rule technology.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, Jordan and I know you will have an awesome year.
I wish my classroom had their own set of computers. You can really use those to your advantage this year during your student teaching. I also wanted to tell you how proud I am of you for getting your school to approve using the NING website. I think it is awesome you are introducing your students to the blogosphere.
ReplyDeleteSomeone in the class had told me about how your teacher got that grant to supply the entire class with computers. I was sooo jealous. Haha That's absolutely awesome. I definitely want to take a grant-writing workshop so I can give me students supplies they would not otherwise have. I had tried to sign up for the grant-writing workshop next month through Kent State (online), but it was already full even though it was over a month in advance! People must be catching onto what great things you can do if you know how to write grants and take advantage of those opportunities. I'm excited to hear what kind of exciting things you will be planning with your class involving that technology!
